Two features I built into a web application connected to Xero: an automated VAT review that checks every purchase in a VAT quarter against its attached document before the return is filed, and AI-assisted bookkeeping that turns supplier invoices into Xero bills.
Walkthrough 1 · under 1 minute
VAT review for a quarter
How it works
Pick a VAT quarter and click Run. The app pulls that period's bills, supplier credit notes and spend money from Xero.
AI reads each attached invoice or receipt and picks out the supplier's VAT number, net, VAT and total exactly as printed.
Each transaction is checked against its document for common VAT errors.
Each finding shows the Xero entry next to the document, with a link to open it in Xero. You resolve or dismiss it, add comments, and export the results to CSV.
The review only reads from Xero. It never changes anything.
Walkthrough 2 · about 4 minutes
Bookkeeping: supplier invoices to Xero bills
How it works
Upload a batch of supplier invoices (PDF, JPG, PNG or HEIC).
AI reads each one: supplier, VAT number, invoice number, dates, line items, net, VAT and total.
The supplier is matched to an existing Xero contact. The account code and VAT rate are suggested from how that supplier's past bills were coded.
Anything that needs attention is flagged "Check". You review each bill next to the original invoice, adjust if needed, and post it to Xero as a bill with the PDF attached.
Nothing is posted to Xero until you've reviewed it.
All data in these recordings is from Xero's Demo Company (UK) and test invoices generated for this purpose. No real client data is shown.
